Secures the Appointment: A deposit helps ensure that both the artist and the client are committed to the scheduled appointment. It discourages last-minute cancellations or no-shows, which can result in lost business for the artist.
Artist's Time Commitment: Tattoo artists often spend time preparing for the design, gathering materials, and setting aside time specifically for the client. The deposit compensates for this effort if the client cancels or doesn't show up.
Covering Potential Losses: If someone cancels last minute, the artist might not be able to fill that spot on short notice. A non-refundable deposit helps to mitigate the financial loss from such cancellations.
Business Policy: It’s part of the shop's business model to maintain a steady flow of work and ensure that they are compensated for their time. Since tattoo artists often have a busy schedule, a deposit is a way to protect their time and income.
Tattoo Creation Process: In some cases, the artist will spend significant time on design work, including drawing and customizing the tattoo. If the client cancels after this work has been done, the deposit helps compensate for the artist’s labor and creativity.

Tattoo touch-ups aren’t typically free because they involve additional time, labor, and supplies, which all cost money. Here are a few reasons why:
Time and Skill: Touching up a tattoo requires an artist to spend time revisiting your design, which takes skill and effort. The artist may need to adjust their technique or apply new layers of ink to refresh the work.
Material Costs: Ink, needles, and other materials must be replenished for the touch-up process, adding to the cost.
Appointment Scheduling: Tattoo shops often have busy schedules, and a touch-up requires an artist to set aside time specifically for your appointment.

Hand and finger tattoos tend to fade more quickly than tattoos in other areas of the body due to a few factors:
Frequent Movement: Hands and fingers are in constant use. Whether it's gripping, typing, or doing other tasks, the constant movement can cause the tattoo to wear out faster, as the skin is constantly being stretched and pulled.
Skin Thickness: The skin on the hands and fingers is thinner and more exposed than other areas of the body, which means it doesn’t retain ink as well. This can lead to quicker fading.
Sun Exposure: Hands and fingers are almost always exposed to sunlight, and UV rays can break down tattoo ink over time, causing fading. Even with sunscreen, the hands still receive significant exposure.
Frequent Washing: Hands are washed frequently, and this constant exposure to water and soap can contribute to the fading of tattoos over time, especially if the tattoo isn't properly moisturized.
Healing Process: Because of the frequent use of the hands, healing tattoos may be disturbed more easily. If a tattoo doesn't heal properly or experiences friction during the healing process, it might not retain its ink as well.
